Club President

ALHAJI IBRAHIM SLY TETTEH

Sly Tetteh is the President of Liberty Professionals F/C, a Premier Division Club in Ghana, and Managing Director of Liberty Sports Ltd., which has affiliates in Europe and also a Director of Global soccer Management which recruits and manages a number of footballers across the continent. He has special qualities as an advisor par excellence for footballers, Sportsmen and women in general. Players and sports personalities who have listened to him and accepted his counsel testify to his divinely rich advises and tutorials.
Coming from a humble background in a suburb of Accra, the capital city of Ghana, Sly Tetteh has established himself as an unassuming hard working personality in Football circles in the sub-region.
After an academic stint through football scholarship, at the Liberty University of LYNCHBURG, VIRGINIA in the United States, he returned home with a mission to inject professionalism in Ghana football.
Sly Tetteh in partnership with Felix Ansong formed a Club at the Regional level in 1995, and within 3 years, the Club, Liberty Professionals F/C, named after his alma mater in the United States, has risen to the elite division of Ghana Football i.e. The Premier League
Sly Tetteh has not only managed to maintain his Club at the Premier Division Level until now, but has also within the period unearthed football talents some of who are playing top Clubs in Europe e.g. Michael Essien of Chelsea in UK, Sulley Muntari and Asamoah Gyan of Udinese F/C – Italy, Anthony Obodai of Ajax F/C in Amsterdam, Dereck Boateng of AIK in Sweden, Kofi Amponsah of Greece, John Paintsil and Addoquaye Pappoe in Israel, Felix Aboagye and Peter Oforiquaye former Stars of Al-Ahly of Egypt and Olympiakos of Greece respectively. Some of these players were natured from raw talents at the juvenile level through the Academy before the senior team. Imbibing in the players self confidence, discipline and professional tenacity.
Sly Tetteh's success in football Management at the domestic level can be attributed to his astute businesslike approach to his job. He is the first Football Club administrator in Ghana to have set up the essential infrastructure to befit a professional football club, i.e. a Secretariat, a Clubhouse, a Gym, a Playing field, a Hostel and a Football academy in the making.
Extending his tentacles to neighbouring Togo, Sly Tetteh has teamed up with a Togolese football enthusiast to set up a football Academy to train the young ones. The academy is called Liberty Soccer Academy and will organize training Camps for Juniors during school holidays.
As a former footballer in one of the Premier Division Clubs in Ghana, Sekondi Hasaacas, which he led to win the West African Football Union (WAFU) competition in 1982, Sly Tetteh has not forgotten his roots, he has alongside his heavy schedule also formed a retired Footballers Club, Liberty Oldies Keep fit Club where his former playmates converge to train and play friendly matches to keep fit and also share experiences and think about their welfare.
Even though Sly Tetteh prefers to operate behind the scenes, always keeping a low profile, his exploits on the football scene has not gone unnoticed. Its not suprising therefore that in the year 2002 at the 27th Awards Nite of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana, Sly Tetteh contribution to football development was recognized with an award from the Association. He was also given a Special award at the Togo National Sports Award Nite. He was awarded for his contribution to the development of football in the sub-region of Africa. He also served on the National Juvenile Committee of the Ghana Football Association in charge of youth football development in the Southern sector of the country. Other recognition of Sly Tetteh's contribution to football in the African sub-region is his appointment as a member of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Marketing and Sponsorship Commission.
Sly Tetteh has a vision of transforming Africa football to a level that would match those of Europe, the Americas and the Far East, and this has brought him into contact with some other top African Football personalities with similar commitments to form a group known as GARF AFRIQUE. This group whose membership comprise of personalities holding top positions on football matters in their various countries, have set out to mobilize resources to support the President of CAF, Issa Hayatou, in his developmental programmes for Africa football.
