Ghana forward Asamoah Gyan graceful converted a 25th penalty his second in as many games to help the Black Stars secure a comeback from an 11th minute Australia lead.

The goal is Gyan’s of the tournament and also won the man-of-the-match award from the second time also.

Ghana on the evidence of last saturday's performanced at the Loftus Versfeld were hoping to run over the Soccerros but found in them a real match even with a man down after 25 minutes.

Ghana were the first to have a run at goal and Kelvin-Prince Boateng should have sent Gyan cleared but chose to shoot at goal but goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer was up to it to push it out for a corner.

Australia took a surprise lead in the 11th minute after Ghana gave away a needless freekick near the box. Forward Brett Holman slotted in a rebound after Ghana goalkeeper Richard Kingson had saved a free kick from Mark Bresciano.

But after several near misses and some hardwork from Andre Dede Ayew on the right Ghana were awarded a penalty on 25 minutes and also had Harry Kewell sent off for a hand ball on the line.

Asamoah Gyan stepped up and with grace dispatched with pomp and style, his second goal in as many games.

A man down Ghana went in search for the second goal as Kwadwo Asamoah and Asamoah Gyan tried their luck from range early in the second half, the latter bringing a good block from goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer.

Australia coach Pim Verbeek brought on Scott Chipperfield on 66 minutes and the defender headed over with his first touch.

Luke Wilkshire then had a close-range shot saved and substitute Josh Kennedy failed with the rebound.

Ghana had several opportunities to finish off the game but threw away all the chances to gift Australia a point that flattering them on a day that rightly belonged to the Black Stars.
